IPB University’s Digital Transformation Becomes the Highlight at the PAPTI Insight Meeting
IPB University often gives birth to the latest innovations, including in the field of archiving. The steps of digital archiving transformation at IPB University became the spotlight in the 17th Insight Meeting activity held by the University Archive Association (PAPTI) on Thursday (22/8) online.
On this occasion, IPB University, as a member of PAPTI, explained its latest steps in archival digital transformation. Julio Adisantoso MKom, Chairman of the Institute of Digital Management and Transformation (LMITD) of IPB University, became the main speaker in this session.
Prof Nandang Alamsah Deliarnoor, Chairman of PAPTI in his speech appreciated IPB University for its contribution in archival management and digitalization.
“We are very inspired by the innovation done by IPB University. This is a golden opportunity for us to learn and develop the archive system in our respective institutions,” he said.
Dr Alim Setiawan, Vice Rector of IPB University in Resource and Infrastructure Resilience, also gave a speech that emphasized IPB University’s commitment in integrating technology with archive management.
“Digital transformation at IPB University is not only about technology, but also part of our efforts to increase the resilience and efficiency of information systems,” he explained.
Julio Adisantoso explained that the transformation of digital archiving at IPB University begins with a fundamental change in the way archives are managed.
“The archiving at IPB University is now not only limited to storing and managing physical archives, but also includes the digitization and integration of archives into a more modern information system,” explained Julio.
He explained, IPB University implements the Archives system, which is an archive digitization center that allows easy and secure access to various important archive collections.
“Arsipedia functions as a one-stop access for all our archive collections, ensuring that the archives we have, whether documents, photos, audios, and videos, can be accessed and managed effectively,” he continued.
Julio also revealed that this transformation involves the integration of archives with a broader knowledge management system.
“We combine archives with other information systems, including libraries and museums, in one institution that we call GLAM (Gallery, Library, Archive, Museum). This aims to create a more open, inclusive, and connected information system,” he explained.
Through these steps, he emphasized that IPB University not only focuses on the digitization of archives, but also on the protection and preservation of valuable data that supports various policies and institutional needs in the future.
“This digital transformation is part of our strategy to ensure that our archives can last a long time and remain relevant,” added Julio.
With this transformation, IPB University shows its commitment in advancing archive management in the digital era and becoming an inspirational example for other universities in the PAPTI network. (MW/Rz) (IAAS/HLF)
