IPB University Welcomes NAIST Visit, Discusses Strengthening International Cooperation

IPB University received a visit from the president and a delegation from Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan. The delegates were welcomed at the Rector’s Conference Room 1, IPB Dramaga Campus on 20/8. 

Prof Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University on the occasion said, “We are honored to host our partners from NAIST and greatly appreciate the collaboration in research, education, and community development with our institution,” he said.

He continued, IPB University is actively involved in partnerships with various universities, research institutions, and organizations around the world. Currently, IPB University has more than 500 active collaborations, with around 460 institutions, and more than 110 institutions in Japan.

“Our partnership with NAIST has a rich history, marked by important milestones that have strengthened academic and research ties between Indonesia and Japan. Currently there are about 30 IPB University alumni who completed their doctorates at NAIST,” said Prof Arif.

“We sincerely hope this meeting will enable fruitful discussions to generate more collaborative activities, strengthen our partnership, and trigger more collaborative programs,” he concluded. 

President of NAIST, Dr Shiozaki Kazuhiro appreciated the warm welcome given at IPB University. He said the meeting was what was currently needed for future collaboration.

“NAIST has just received an award for being one of the universities that conducts the most educational research and only two universities in the world have received this title,” said Dr Shiozaki.

“There are many NAIST alumni from Indonesia, one of them is a lecturer at IPB University. I am sure IPB University has and will continue to be a university with the largest collaboration and research so as to bring education forward,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University, Dr Berry Juliandi who was present at the event hoped that in the future with the new vision NAIST and IPB University could continue to collaborate.

“One of the collaborations we want to do is by sending IPB University medical lecturers to study there and conduct research in the field of medicine, because NAIST is one of the best universities in the field of research and education,” said Dr Berry. (Lp/Rz) (IAAS/ZQA)
