IPB University KKNT Innovation Students Collaborate with Puskeswan Cigudeg, Improve Livestock Health in Sukajaya Village
Students of IPB University’s Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) Innovation in collaboration with the Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) Puskeswan Cigudeg, Bogor Regency, West Java held a vitamin and deworming programme for goats and sheep in Sukajaya Village.
This programme aims to improve livestock health and productivity to improve the economy of the Sukajaya Village community. This programme focuses on improving the health of goats and sheep so that they are not easily affected by diseases such as itching (budug), eye pain, colds, and diarrhoea which can harm livestock and farmers.
KKNT Innovation IPB University students played an active role in assisting the implementation of this programme, from data collection of livestock to the distribution of vitamins and dewormers. A total of 114 vitamins and dewormers were given to livestock in Sirnagalih, Sinangka, Cikemang, and Sidoger villages.
In addition to providing vitamins and deworming drugs, KKNT Innovation students and UPT Puskeswan Cigudeg also provided disinfectants and education about good sanitation for livestock cages. This programme aims to provide proper sanitation for livestock to maintain the health of livestock and improve the welfare of the surrounding community.
“This programme is very important for the health of livestock in Sukajaya Village. With regular vitamin and deworming, I hope the animals here can grow healthy and productive,” said Mamat, Sukajaya Village chief.
UPT Puskeswan Cigudeg, as a partner in this programme, provided the various vitamins and dewormers needed. Chief of UPT Puskeswan Cigudeg, drh Muhamad Anis Ardi MAP explained that the provision of vitamins and dewormers can prevent various diseases in livestock such as worms that can interfere with livestock growth and productivity.
“We are very happy to be working with KKNT Innovation students and Sukajaya Village. We hope this programme can provide great benefits for farmers and livestock in Sukajaya Village,” he said.
One of the farmers, Mustofa, expressed his gratitude for this programme. “I feel very helped by this programme. My livestock has become healthier and more productive. I hope programmes like this can continue,” he said.
The KKNT Innovation students involved in the programme also gained valuable experience. They not only learnt about livestock health, but also about how to interact and help the village community.
“This activity gave us the opportunity to apply the knowledge we learnt in college. We also learnt about cooperation and community service,” said Putri Aulia, the leader of the KKNT Inovasi IPB University group in Sukajaya Village.
With this vitamin and deworming programme, it is hoped that the welfare of farmers in Sukajaya Village will improve, and this village can become an example for other villages in maintaining livestock health.
