IPB University has launched the GLOBE Talent Pool mentoring program in collaboration with Schoters by Ruangguru. Coordinated by the Directorate of International Education, the program involves 37 students from various faculties and departments at IPB University.

Puji Mudiana, SP, MA, the Director of International Education at IPB University, stated that the program aims to prepare students to seize international education opportunities through two main components: the Study Abroad Academy (SAA) sessions and IELTS Preparation.

“In the SAA sessions, students receive comprehensive guidance on various crucial aspects of the study abroad application process. This includes Q&A sessions about studying abroad, discussions on study interests and goals, scholarship program applications, objectives and timelines, and the search for academic supervisors,” Puji explained.

Participants are also provided with information about potential destination countries and universities, as well as guidance on scholarship and university application processes. Additionally, the SAA program offers services for preparing scholarship application documents such as essays and academic CVs.

“The participants are required to complete forms and upload their documents according to the specified guidelines. Each document undergoes a review process, and participants receive feedback for revisions that need to be made,” she added.

Beyond the SAA sessions, the mentoring program also includes IELTS preparation. Students receive intensive training that consists of online face-to-face sessions and test simulations. The program includes 31 hours of mandatory training and 4 hours of test simulation, conducted on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the program. Participants will take two simulation tests, a pre-test and a final test, to measure their progress.

During the IELTS preparation sessions, participants will learn about the four main skills tested in the IELTS exam: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Schoters by Ruangguru provides asynchronous materials and quizzes that participants can access anytime. In addition, participants have the opportunity to practice directly with tutors.

Puji hopes that this mentoring program will provide significant benefits to the participants as they prepare to face global challenges. Thus, this program serves as an essential first step in helping IPB University students achieve success on the global stage.

“We believe that through this collaboration with Schoters by Ruangguru, IPB University students will have greater opportunities to achieve their academic aspirations and gain international exposure,” she remarked. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
