The event was held at the Teuku Umar Senate Room, UTU. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Representative of BI Aceh Province Hertha Bastiawan, UTU Rector Prof Ishak, Regional Secretary of West Aceh District Marhaban, MSi and the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) and the West Aceh District Working Unit (SKPK).

In addition, the UTU research team (Hafinuddin, MSc, Dr Muhammad Rizal, Ikhsanul Khairi, MSi, Afdhal Fuadi, MSi, and Samsul Bahri, MSi), Chief of the Regional Economic and Financial Policy Formulation Team (Hendy Hadiyan), Manager of the Regional Economic and Financial Policy Implementation Team (Syafiqar Nabil), Panglima Laot Lhok, and joint business groups in various areas in West Aceh were also present.

The resource persons were Vice Chief of TNC IPB University and also IPB University lecturer at the Department of Fisheries Resource Utilisation, Dr Roza Yusfiandayani, Assistant Director of Entrepreneurship and lecturer at the Department of Sharia Economics IPB University, Dr M Iqbal Irfany, and Unimal lecturer and coastal sociology researcher Dr Mursyidin.

“Bank Indonesia is ready to fully support synergy activities between academics and the government to reduce inflation in Aceh Province,” said Hertha Bastiawan.

Marhaban, MSi as the Secretary of West Aceh said that he was very happy with the Fish Aggregation Device (FAD) technology to be implemented in West Aceh. He also strongly supports that FADs can be implemented other than in West Aceh.

The same thing was conveyed by the UTU Rector who was also happy with this synergy. He hopes that this programme can continue to work together and be sustainable. “Hopefully it can produce regulations in the utilisation of FADs so that it can be sustainable,” he hoped.

Dr Roza said that the FAD innovation was an innovation from the collaboration between Teuku Umar University and IPB University since 2016. FADs can be implemented because they can increase catches and fuel efficiency.

The socialisation of fibre FADs and the fisheries supply chain was attended by 20 panglima laot and KUBs. The fishermen were very enthusiastic about this activity. Dr Roza hoped that the fishermen could use the fibre FADs as fishing aids so that fishermen’s productivity could increase.

“Hopefully the synergy of cooperation between academics, local government and Bank Indonesia can provide benefits for panglima laot and KUB and the fishermen’s economy,” he said. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
