Building Agility of Thinking, IPB University Vocational School Holds Shifting Mindset and Lecturer Reskilling Workshop

IPB University Vocational School held a Workshop on Shifting Mindset and Reskilling Lecturers. This workshop aims to build thinking agility among vocational lecturers. The event took place at the IPB International Convention Center (IIC), Bogor, attended by all lecturers of IPB University Vocational School.

The workshop began with the opening of the Dean of IPB University Vocational School, Dr Aceng Hidayat, who conveyed the importance of mindset change in facing the challenges of globalization and the needs of the current world of work. 

“Mindset change is an urgent need to prepare IPB University Vocational School alumni to become superior human resources (HR) who are able to contribute greatly to the development of Indonesian society in the future,” he said.

IPB University Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana, emphasized that lecturers and students are the main actors in a good curriculum. “The alumni of IPB University Vocational School contribute as much as one third of the IPB student body and will color the world of work as professionals and leaders,” she added.

Meanwhile, Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, highlighted the importance of critical thinking and problem solving skills in the next five years. Prof Arif also emphasized the importance of self-management skills such as active learning, resilience, and flexibility to build an information society (Society 4.0) and a smart society (Society 5.0).

The workshop also presented several expert speakers, including Wikan Sakarinto, Director of the Indonesian Innovation Academy, who discussed the importance of Teaching Factory (Tefa) in vocational curriculum development. 

“Tefa must be managed well and the main goal is not only on the product, but on the character building of students,” he said.

The second speaker, Dr Adian Husaini, gave a view on the urgency of adab in the formation of superior personalities and ethical norms in the academic world. He emphasized, “Education must be fun and develop the potential of each individual.”

The third speaker, Prof Dietriech G Bengen. The professor of IPB University discussed ethical norms and academic culture and their relationship in academic life. “Ethical norms and academic culture are three important pillars that sustain life in the academic world,” he said. (*/Lp/Rz) (IAAS/SNI)
