Towards a Healthy Village: Himagizi IPB University Launches Nutrition House Program in Sukaharja Village

Sukaharja Village, Ciomas District, Bogor Regency, witnessed the beginning of the inspirational journey of the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) team of the Nutrition Student Association (Himagizi) IPB University in building a comfortable, clean, and healthy environment.

On Sunday (23/6), the Sukaharja Village Office Hall was filled with the enthusiasm of the residents. The reason is, Himagizi IPB University conducted the first socialization of the innovative program ‘Nutrition House’ which aims to improve the health of the village community.

The program aims to transform Sukaharja Village into an example of a healthy village through various community empowerment initiatives, including health education, environmental quality improvement, and hunger reduction. Through the Nutrition House program, the PPK Ormawa team also targets health cadres to be active as community mobilizers.

Nutrition House is the driving force of this program, with a number of sub-programs such as training posyandu cadres as a form of stunting prevention, the formation of a Healthy Awareness community, nutrition consultation on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), the use of tilapia cultivation as an innovation in MPASI product development, and the formation of Sustainable Food Yards and Healthy Herbal Pharmacies (Peri Hebat).

Muhammad Aries, SP, MSi, Student Affairs Commission of Himagizi IPB University, emphasized that the main focus of PPK Ormawa in Sukaharja Village was to address health and environmental sanitation issues. “We hope to optimize public health in Sukaharja Village through this program,” he said.

Chief Executive of Himagizi’s PPK Ormawa Team, Almira Qatrunnada, added, “We hope that Sukaharja Village will become a comfortable, clean, and healthy village, so that people can avoid diseases such as NCDs and the prevalence of stunting can be reduced.”

Community participation was also seen in this socialization. Yani, one of the posyandu cadres, said, “This activity has broadened our knowledge about nutrition issues. We hope that the community can work together with the PPK Ormawa Himagizi IPB University team to develop Sukaharja Village into a healthy village.”

This program is in line with several points of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely point 2: Villages without hunger, point 3: Healthy and Prosperous Villages, and point 15: Villages care for the land environment.
