Students of Innovation Real Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) from IPB University at Bulumanis Kidul Village also participated in the stunting case audit activity organised by the Women’s Empowerment Social Service, Child Protection and Family Planning (Dinsos P3AKB) Pati Regency, Central Java.
This event aims to identify and analyse the factors that cause the high rate of stunting in the region from the alleged stunting data that occurred, as well as formulate strategic steps to reduce it.
The activity that took place at the Bulumanis Kidul Village Hall was also attended by the Chairman of Pati Regency P3AKB Social Service, the Chief of Margoyoso District, the Chairman of the Margoyoso Health Centre, the Chief of Bulumanis Kidul Village, and various health experts, including paediatricians, obstetricians, family nutritionists, and psychiatrists. The experts provide an explanation about stunting conditions, their causes, and their impact on children’s development.
President of P3AKB Social Service of Pati Regency, Indriyanto SH, MSi, in his speech conveyed the importance of collaboration between various parties in dealing with stunting problems.
“This activity is very important to be carried out in the context of efforts to reduce the stunting rate that occurred in Pati Regency which this year is very grateful to experience a decrease in the prevalence of stunting cases from 23 percent last year to 18.5 percent today and will continue to be sought to reach the national target at 14 percent” he said.
Mochamad Dwianto, the Leader of the KKNT Innovation team, stated that participation in this stunting case audit activity is part of the commitment of IPB University students to contribute to improving public health.
“We hope that through this activity, we can make a real contribution in the prevention and handling of stunting efforts in Bulumanis Kidul Village and its surroundings,” he said.
In this activity, students working together with health experts conduct an evaluation of child health data in Bulumanis Kidul Village. They identified factors that cause stunting, including diet, maternal health status, sanitation, and access to health services. The results of this audit will later be used as the basis for designing a more effective intervention program.
“Hopefully the results of this activity can be sustainable and become a foothold for concrete steps in lowering the number of stunting in Pati Regency,” concluded Dwi. (*/Rz) (IAAS/IAN)
