School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences (SKHB) IPB University received a visit from the Miyazaki Prefectural Agriculture and Irrigation Office of Japan, located in the Dean’s Office of SKHB IPB University, 8/7.

The visit was attended by two representatives from the Miyazaki Prefectural Agriculture and Irrigation Office of Japan, two people from JA Cooperative and International Human Support Cooperatives, and two people from Jobjepang.com. The group was received directly by the Dean of School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences (SKHB) IPB University, Dr drh Amrozi and Deputy Dean for Resources, Cooperation and Development (SKP), Dr drh Andriyanto.

This activity is part of the steps to explore cooperation in developing human resources (HR) in agriculture, veterinary medicine, and Japanese. The activity began with an explanation of the profile of School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences (SKHB) IPB University by the Dean of School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences (SKHB) IPB University.

Imuta Shinsaku, representing the Miyazaki Prefectural Department of Agriculture and Irrigation, in his speech said, “The Miyazaki region needs veterinary medical personnel or veterinary paramedics to work using professional visas, especially in the fields of animal scinece and agriculture, as well as agricultural product technology for the potential crops of Miyazaki Prefecture.”

In his presentation, Mr Imuta explained that Miyazaki Prefecture is a region with excellent agricultural and livestock commodities, including broiler chickens, broilers, and pigs, which are ranked in the top three nationally. However, the decline in productive-age human resources has meant that the number of people actively working in agriculture in general has also decreased significantly.

For this reason, he continued, various existing employment schemes are expected to provide solutions, including opportunities for School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences (SKHB) IPB University veterinary graduates to take part as professionals in Japan, especially Miyazaki Prefecture.

“We will convey all forms of input and suggestions from School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences (SKHB) IPB University to the relevant authorities in Japan, especially Miyazaki Prefecture, for the implementation of the HR development program,” he said.

Responding to this, Dr Amrozi said that many veterinarians who graduated from School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences (SKHB) IPB University have already made careers abroad, such as Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. Therefore, he did not rule out the possibility that they could also have a career in Japan, especially in Miyazaki city through future cooperation between School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical  Sciences (SKHB) IPB University and Miyazaki Prefecture.
