KKNT IPB University Students Conduct Waste Education Action in Sukajadi Village
The IPB University Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) Student Team has taken proactive steps in an effort to maintain environmental cleanliness. This action was carried out by making and installing educational banners around the Sukajadi Village area, Tamansari District, Bogor Regency, West Java, which aims to invite people not to litter.
This activity is part of the “Suka Jadi Bersih” program. This activity departs from the lack of public awareness of the habit of throwing garbage out of place so that interesting education is needed to increase public awareness of environmental problems related to waste so that people become more aware of their contribution in keeping the environment clean.
“One of our main objectives in conducting this activity is to educate the community about the importance of disposing of waste in its proper place. We hope these educational banners can serve as a reminder and motivation for Sukajadi villagers to care more about the environment,” said Windi Gunawan, the village coordinator.
He said that the large banners were installed at nine strategic points in the RW 08 area of Sukajadi Village that are busy with daily traffic, at the village hall, and in the gutter area that is commonly used by residents to dispose of garbage.
“The banners contain information about the importance of disposing of garbage in its place and an appeal not to throw garbage into the gutter. This activity is also supported by the village government who cares about environmental issues so that students can carry out programs more optimally that focus on environmental issues,” said Windi.
Adi, the Chief of RW 08, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the KKNT IPB University students. “Previously, the community may not have been aware of the importance of disposing of garbage in its place. This activity is very useful for the community so that they realize the importance of disposing of garbage in its place and the surrounding environment becomes more organized,” he said.
The local community responded positively. Alta, one of the community leaders, said, “This activity really helps train discipline, because many residents still litter. This campaign invites people to throw garbage in its place, which is very beneficial for us.”
Alta said that the initiative of KKNT IPB University students is a real step in the role of higher education in making a positive contribution to society. In addition to increasing public awareness, this activity is also one of the proactive steps in maintaining environmental sustainability around RW 08 Sukajadi Village. (*/Lp) (IAAS/NYS).
