IPB University students is starting the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) in Mojorembun Village, Rejoso District, Nganjuk, East Java. One of the flagship programs being implemented is the mapping of agricultural areas.

This program aims to provide guidance to the village government regarding the agricultural potential in the area. The mapping is carried out participatively with the community using the QGIS, Appsheet, and OpenOffice applications.

The program implementation method focuses on three things. Firstly, determining the agricultural area by identifying the areas to be mapped. Secondly, participative data collection by local farmer groups, including land area, productivity, land ownership, and economic needs. Thirdly, digital mapping.

At the welcoming event for the KKNT Innovation students from IPB University at Pendopo KRT Sosrokoesoemo, Sri Handoko Taruna, acting Regent of Nganjuk Regency, emphasized the importance of collaboration between academics and the community to achieve common goals in improving the welfare of farmers.

“This collaboration is a tangible step towards building sustainable villages by utilizing knowledge and technology,” said Sri Handoko.

The event was also attended by Prof Y Aris Purwanto, the Coordinator of KKNT Innovation at IPB University. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of this program in assisting villages in mapping their agricultural potential. The results of this mapping can be used for further planning and development.

“This program not only provides direct benefits to farmers, but also opens opportunities for village governments to plan more targeted development,” said Prof. Aris.

In addition to Mojorembun Village, KKNT Innovation IPB University students in Rejoso Subdistrict, Nganjuk Regency are placed in Sukorejo Village, Sidokare Village, Mlorah Village, and Ngangkatan Village. This program involves 40 students who will serve for 40 days with the main goal of assisting the community, especially in the field of agriculture.

With a spirit of togetherness and synergy, it is expected that this agricultural land mapping program will have a positive impact on the Mojorembun Village community and serve as an example for other villages in Nganjuk Regency. (*/Rz) (IAAS/EXC)
