Join Now: IPB University Opens Undergraduate Program in Artificial Intelligence

IPB University has launched a Bachelor of Science (S1) program in Artificial Intelligence. Registration for the S1 Artificial Intelligence program opens from July 26 to 28, 2024, through the IPB Independent Entrance Selection (SM IPB) or the Independent Pathway. Students can register via the website admisi.ipb.ac.id.

The pre-exam will be conducted on Monday, July 29th, 2024. The main exam will take place online on July 30th, 2024. Exam results will be announced on July 31, 2024. The online re-registration and tuition payment period will last for three days from August 1th to 3rd, 2024. Classes will commence on August 12th, 2024.

Dr Yeni Herdiyeni, Chairperson of the S1 Artificial Intelligence Program at IPB University, stated that this program is established under the auspices of the School of Data Science, Mathematics, and Informatics at IPB University.

“This Artificial Intelligence program is designed to produce graduates with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) to address problems related to the application of intelligent systems technology,” she explained.

With these competencies, Dr Yeni noted, graduates will be able to identify and formulate solutions to problems related to the application of intelligent systems in supporting digital transformation and technological development in the future, especially in the broader field of agriculture.

“The IPB University Artificial Intelligence program adopts an interdisciplinary study approach that integrates computer science with other fields, particularly in agriculture, to develop innovative AI technology,” she stated.

Given the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology today, the profile of graduates from this program is increasingly in demand. They can pursue careers as AI Engineers/ML Engineers, Data Scientists, AI Research Scientists, Computer Vision Engineers, Natural Language Processing Engineers, and Robotic AI Specialists.

“Graduates will be capable of developing, implementing, and disseminating AI knowledge and intelligent systems technology, particularly in sustainable agriculture, marine sciences, and tropical biosciences for the welfare of society,” added Dr Yeni.

The techno-sociopreneur character instilled by IPB University in every student also opens opportunities for graduates of the Artificial Intelligence Program to pursue careers as AI Entrepreneurs and AI Consultants.

“Thus, we hope this program will produce high-quality graduates in the field of AI with excellent techno-sociopreneur characters, grounded in national values, morals, ethics, global perspectives, and leadership in producing innovative work,” concluded Dr Yeni.

Curriculum Structure

The curriculum of the Artificial Intelligence Program at IPB University is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding through seven different knowledge groups, including:

• Fundamentals of Computer Science: Algorithms and Basic Programming, Data Structures, Linear Algebra for Computing, Probability Theory, Discrete Structures, Databases, Statistical Inference Techniques.

• Fundamentals of Software: Data Structures, Programming, Object-Oriented Programming.

• System Modeling: Intelligent Systems, Machine Learning, NLP, Data Science, Deep Learning, AI Capstone Project, Applied Bioinformatics.

• System Architecture and Infrastructure: Internet of Things (IoT), Multi-Agent Systems, Parallel and Distributed Programming.

• Software Development: Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Product Design for Agriculture, Computer Vision.

• Hardware: Robotics.

• Users and Organizations: User Experience Design.
