IPB University students who are carrying out the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-TI) held a Fun Learning event with an Expression Corner in RW 008, Batutulis Village, South Bogor District, Bogor City, West Java. This activity aims to improve the reading, writing and arithmetic skills and habits of children in the area.
According to Yusuf Habi Bulloh, chief executive of the IPB University student program from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), this activity was designed to increase children’s activities using the fun learning method. “We package learning media in the form of fun mini games for children,” he said.
This Fun Learning event consists of three main sessions. The Calculation Session uses a snakes and ladders and ludo approach with calculation puzzles. The Drawing Session invites children to create drawings based on the examples provided. Reading sessions use a word order approach that trains children’s reading skills.
This activity was attended by 10 family welfare empowerment (PKK) cadres and 28 children from grade 1 to grade 6 elementary school. “We hope that through this fun learning method, children can be more motivated and enjoy the learning process,” added Yusuf.
Apart from that, Yusuf emphasized the importance of creating a pleasant learning atmosphere so that children can develop reading, writing and arithmetic skills more effectively. “We believe that by creating a positive and fun learning environment, children will be more enthusiastic about learning and reaching their full potential,” he said.
