IPB University students who are undergoing Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture  (KKNT) in Cikarawang Village, Dramaga District, Bogor Regency, West Java have successfully held a ‘Day Without Gadgets’ activity with local village children through Mobile School (SKULLING).

Utilizing the local community’s majelis taklim room, this program successfully collaborated with Karang Taruna in order to increase educational empowerment to Cikarawang Village elementary school children. Participants in this program were 26 children from grades 1 to 6.

“The SKULLING program succeeded in increasing the children’s interest in implementing actions to care for the environment. There are various series of activities carried out in this program, one of which is education related to the surrounding nature,” said Ghina Rahmi, one of the KKNT Innovation student team members.

The activity began with fun literacy activities. Educational books and magazines were presented to improve children’s literacy. Furthermore, participants were equipped with education about the surrounding nature, introduction to natural disasters, and waste sorting activities.

“We invite them to apply it directly so that from an early age they can protect the surrounding environment,” said Ghina.

Not to forget, she said, this program is always interspersed with various games and quizzes with prizes that can increase the enthusiasm of the participants and leave a pleasant impression.

Ghina revealed that the implementation of the SKULLING program received a very positive response from various parties. This was reflected in the increase in participant engagement, target achievement and feedback. The success of this program is inseparable from the hard work and dedication that has been bestowed.

“Through good collaboration, this program has created a significant positive impact on KKNT Innovation IPB University students, youth organizations, local residents, and participants. The greatest appreciation is given to all parties involved in the series of activities of this program,” she said. (*/Rz) (IAAS/Hap)
