The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA), in collaboration with the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK) at IPB University, has once again engaged the community through the Quality Family School (SKB). This time, the Quality Family School activity was held in Cibanteng Village, Ciampea, Bogor (5/7).

Dr Mohammad Iqbal Irfany, Assistant Director of Social Entrepreneurship at DPMA IPB University, explained that the SKB program was previously known as the IPB Stunting Prevention Movement. “Since stunting prevention is a complex issue, the Quality Family School was established to empower families and support child development, preparing high-quality human resources,” he said.

He emphasized that the Quality Family School represents IPB University’s presence in the villages surrounding the campus, particularly in addressing village issues such as stunting prevention.

This meeting is expected to provide tangible benefits for the community in preventing stunting and improving child development. DPMA and IKK at IPB University are committed to continuously supporting similar programs for the welfare and progress of families in the villages around the campus.

Dr Iqbal stated, “We will continue to assist and support families in this village to ensure that the stunting prevention program runs smoothly and yields optimal results.”

Dr Yulina Eva Riany, a lecturer at IPB University, highlighted the importance of applying the concepts of Asah, Asih, and Asuh within families in her presentation. She noted that these concepts aim to nurture healthy development in young children. She explained that Asah, Asih, and Asuh are the three main pillars of parenting, encompassing intellectual stimulation (Asah), affection (Asih), and care (Asuh).

“By applying these three concepts, families can ensure the optimal physical, mental, and emotional development of their children,” explained Dr Yulina Eva Riany from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK) at IPB University.

Warso, the Chief of Cibanteng Village, expressed deep gratitude to DPMA and IKK at IPB University for implementing the SKB program. “Thank you to IPB University for imparting knowledge to the residents through this Quality Family School. Through this program, we hope there will be no more stunted children and that we can prevent new cases of stunting,” said Warso.

He added, “I hope this program runs smoothly from start to finish, and I wish the mothers good health and enthusiasm as they attend these school meetings.” (IAAS/RUM)
