IPB University PKM Team ‘Rintik Muda’ Improves Self-Control and Motivation of Yatumi Children
In an effort to improve the self-control and motivation of children at Yayasan Titipan Ummat Indonesia (Yatumi), IPB University’s Student Creativity Programme for Community Service (PKM PM) team initiated the ‘Rintik Muda’ programme.
Rintik Muda is an innovative programme designed to develop the potential of children who have problems in self-control due to lack of parental supervision due to economic burden. The PKM PM team applied a habit-fuelling method known as Ant-fection, to slowly and steadily nurture the strengthening of children’s self-control in Yatumi.
The programme is led by Aulia Nurul Hikmah, with team members Ridha Nurhasanah, Nicky Mardani, Imam Bakti, and ‘Aadilah Nur, and supervised by Dr Adisti Permatasari Putri Hartoyo.
“Seeing the background of Yatumi, which houses orphans, orphans, and the poor, encouraged us to create a programme that can increase the enthusiasm and self-control of children in behaviour and social life,” said Aulia.
Aulia explained that the programme began with the Get Closer with Rintik Muda activity, which involved children and Yatumi administrators, as well as parents to add new insights and socialisation related to the programme. ‘The Rintik Daily’ activity invites children to record their daily activities in a pocket book as a way to get used to doing positive activities consistently.
Another series of programmes are packaged in the form of fun learning. The programme ‘Rintik Mimpi: Brings Up Motivation’ provides an experience of watching videos about dreams and other activities to increase children’s motivation in achieving their dreams.
In addition, ‘Rintik Kreasi: Enhance Your Creativity’ trained the children’s creativity through ornamental mushroom management and talent show simulations, which successfully boosted their creativity and confidence.
Finally, the ‘Closing Rintik Muda: Bring The Rainbow’ successfully provided a platform for entertainment, togetherness, and created happy memories for all Yatumi children, administrators, and parents. Through this programme, the children were able to express themselves, increase their confidence, and feel happiness from the positive things they did.
“The Rintik Muda programme is a tangible proof of the contribution of IPB University students in community development through innovative and useful activities. The journey of implementing this programme is indeed full of challenges, but the spirit and solid cooperation of the team has made it successful in achieving its goals,” concluded Aulia.
