IPB University PKM Team Creates JivaJoy, Aromatherapy to Overcome Baby Blues in Postpartum Mothers
IPB University students launched an innovative product called JivaJoy, a 2-in-1 aromatherapy product in the form of roll-on and inhaler aimed at helping postpartum mothers overcome baby blues syndrome.
Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa bidang Kewirausahaan or Student Creativity Program for Entrepreneurship (PKM K) became a platform for the JivaJoy team to make 2-in-1 aromatherapy using sandalwood and basil leaf extracts.
Rangga Mahardika Nazarulloh, team leader of Student Creativity Program (PKM) JivaJoy, said he and his fellow students realized the common problem often experienced by postpartum mothers, namely baby blues syndrome. The survey found that 50-70 percent of mothers in Indonesia experience baby blues, the third highest in Asia.
In full, the JivaJoy product was developed by a team of IPB University students consisting of Rangga Mahardika Nazarulloh, Abdul Aziz Ramdani, Raden Roro Fatimah Azzahra, Restu Saputra, and Marsya Halya Alfrida, under the guidance of expert lecturer, Khoirul Aziz Husyairi.
He explained that this product was born from an in-depth research and trial process, ensuring its benefits and effectiveness in helping postpartum mothers.
“JivaJoy comes with practical packaging, combining the functions of roll on and inhaler in one product. This aromatherapy is easy to use anytime and anywhere, providing comfort for mothers who need it,” said Rangga.
He explained that sandalwood and basil extracts were chosen because they are proven to have a calming effect, reducing anxiety, stress, and insomnia often experienced by postpartum mothers.
“We see the potential market for this product is quite broad, with the main target being postpartum mothers in the West Java region. JivaJoy is expected to be an effective and economical solution in reducing baby blues symptoms,” he said.
In addition, this product also supports the third point of sustainable development goals (SDGs) regarding good health and well-being, with a focus on reducing deaths from depression and improving mental health. JivaJoy is marketed at a promo price of Rp29,999 per product, offering excellent value for consumers.
“With the presence of JivaJoy, it is hoped that postpartum mothers can more easily overcome baby blues and undergo a better recovery period. This product not only offers a practical solution for the mother’s mental health, but also supports the improvement of overall family well-being,” said Zara, one of the JivaJoy team members.
