IPB University lecturers from the Department of Agribusiness, Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) carried out community service activities in Blora Regency, Central Java with the theme ‘Capacity Building of Farmers through Farm Recording and Digital Marketing Training’.

The event, which was held in Palon Village, Jepon District, was part of the Homecoming Lecturer program (Dospulkam) which aims to apply IPB University’s innovations and strengthen collaboration with local governments.

Dr Anna Fariyanti, IPB University lecturer from Cepu-Blora, led this activity. She was joined by Dr Yanti Nuraeni Muflikh, Dr Suprehatin, Herawati SE, MSi, and Vanesha Miranda, SE, MSi.

“Most farmers in Indonesia do not have farm records, so farm recording training is very important. Similarly, digital marketing training is important to develop the marketing of products that have been produced by Blora farmers,” said Dr Anna Fariyanti in her introduction.

A total of 38 participants consisting of farmers, beef cattle breeders, and organic fertilizer processors from Palon Village and surrounding areas attended this training. Participants gained knowledge about the importance of farm recording to monitor and increase income and develop business in the future. In addition, they were also equipped with digital marketing skills to market agricultural products more widely through digital platforms.

The event was officially opened by the Regent of Blora, H Arief Rohman, SIP, MSi, accompanied by the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) and his staff, the Head of the Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries Agency (P4), the Secretary of Jepon Sub-District, and the Head of Palon Village.

In his speech, Regent Arief expressed his appreciation to IPB University lecturers who have contributed to improving the capacity of farmers and breeders in Blora. “This training is very relevant and important for the advancement of the agriculture and livestock sector in Blora,” he said.

Lagiono, a farmer and breeder from Palon Village, expressed his gratitude. “This training is very helpful for us. Now we understand better how to record farming activities and utilize the internet to market our products,” he said enthusiastically.

Dr Anna hopes that this training can help farmers and breeders in Palon Village and surrounding areas to be better prepared to face challenges in the increasingly complex and dynamic world of agriculture. “With farm recording and digital marketing, farmers are expected to become more professional and highly competitive,” she said.  (*/Rz) (IAAS/SNI)
