IPB University launches IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley, Director General of Higher Education provides support

As an innovation campus, IPB University successfully held the launching of IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley. The launching activity was held in Singasari Village, Jonggol District, Bogor Regency on 30/6.

Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria said that the development of the Jonggol area was an effort to strengthen the impact of higher education for the community.

“This term arises to utilise the potential of the land area of about 260 hectares as an area of education, research, internship, empowerment of farmers and ecotourism,” said Prof Arif.

He said, in addition to building dormitories, the long-term plan for the development of this area was to build an IPB University campus in the Jonggol area after Dramaga and Sukabumi.

“The theme of IPB University’s work in 2028 is global leadership in innopreuneur, so the declaration of IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley is not just the signing of the inscription but is a commitment to build this area to be more modern again,” he said.

The activity was also attended by the Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education and Culture Research and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek), Prof Abdul Haris.

“We strongly support what IPB University is doing in addressing the issue of relevance of higher education. I feel that IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley can be a large laboratory that can be developed in the aspect of economic development,” said Prof Abdul Haris.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of IPB University, Prof Tridoyo Kusumastanto said that the main purpose of the launching of IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley is to contribute to innovation so as to provide benefits that can be felt by the community.

“The function of IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley is not only research but the downstream process that can lead to the development of the people’s economy.  So the triple helix concept is used for the development of this Jonggol area,” he said.

Acting Bogor Regent Asmawa Tosepu, who also supported the launching of the IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley, said that for the Bogor Regency Government, the activity was proof that Bogor Regency could provide benefits to Indonesia.

“The Bogor Regency Government will continue to support what is needed for the development of IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley. Congratulations to IPB University for this declaration. We hope that in the future there will be more areas in Bogor Regency that will develop like in this Jonggol area,” said Asmawa.

President Director of PTPN III Holding, Muhammad Abdul Gani revealed that PTPN as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) has the task of being an agent of change. “We are now given the task by the government to be self-sufficient in food and food estate, so the support from IPB University is very important. This collaboration in the future must continue to be improved. We will support IPB University for a better change,” he concluded.

At the end of the activity there was an inscription signing of the launching of IPB Jonggol Innovation Valley conducted by the Rector of IPB University and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. (Lp) (IAAS/RUM)
