IPB University KKNT Students and Cikawao Village Farmer Groups Apply Trichocompost for Healthy Cultivation
Students of the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) Innovation together with several Farmer Groups under the supervision of village officials and the Agricultural Extension Agency of Cikawao Village, Pacet District, Bandung Regency, West Java succeeded in carrying out two activities that were useful in overcoming problems of cultivated plants and supporting the creation of healthy plant cultivation.
The activities carried out on Friday, 13/7, included the socialization of the Digitani application, which serves as a communication and consultation platform for farmers, and the practice of making Trichocompost.
Choirul Ichsan as the leader of the Cikawao Village KKNT Team said that Cikawao Village has potential commodities of shallots, coffee and rice. But there are problems with fertilizers which are important needs in the process of plant cultivation such as expensive prices, quantity and types that are not obtained as needed.
“Trichokompos organic fertilizer can be an alternative in overcoming these problems. The process of making Trichokompos can utilize manure, coffee skin waste, and other materials,” said Choirul.
He hopes that this work program will become a means for the community to process and utilize waste in Cikawao Village, for example coffee skins, which can be used as material for making Trichokompos organic fertilizer.
Haqiqi, who was present as a speaker, explained the importance of knowing technology in agricultural cultivation, by utilizing the latest applications such as Digitani. “This application offers excellent features such as articles, farmer forums, and consultations with experts and extension workers,” he said.
This activity was closed with a survey of the usefulness of the work program that had been carried out. “This activity is very useful, in the future it must be more frequent” said several Cikawao Village farmers. (*/Lp) (IAAS/HLF)
