Increase the Capacity of Social Media Management of Tourism Villages, DPMA IPB University Holds Media Branding Workshop

Optimal utilization of social media in the current digital era is an important thing that needs to be done, especially for managers of tourist village areas. With regard to this, IPB University through the Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) in collaboration with PT Astra International Tbk through the Desa Sejahtera Astra program held a Media Branding Workshop, (3-4/7).

The workshop, which was attended by the managers of tourist villages, was held in the Guci Tourism Village of Tegal Regency and Gambuhan Tourism Village of Pemalang Regency, Central Java. This activity aims to increase the capacity and skills of tourism village social media managers in utilizing the features offered on various social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other relevant platforms.

The first day of the workshop focused on exploring the potential and problems in managing social media through focus group discussion (FGD) activities. On the second day, the activity focused on content creation practices. This activity invited Sherly Eka Maulidiya and Muhammad Syukur as facilitators of tourism village branding media.

Sherly Eka Maulidiya, one of the facilitators, stated, “Effective social media utilization can increase the attractiveness and number of visits to tourist villages. Through this workshop, we hope that tourism village managers can be more creative and innovative in promoting the potential of their village,” she said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Syukur added, “The key to success in managing social media lies in the consistency and uniqueness of the content. Thus, tourism village managers must be able to showcase the uniqueness and beauty of their village through interesting content.”

This activity is expected to have a positive impact on the development of tourism villages in Indonesia, especially in utilizing social media as an effective and efficient means of promotion.
