Establishing a Strategic Partnership, DPMA IPB University and BIMA Team Encourage Ubi Business Development in Purwasari Village
The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) together with the Research and Community Service Information Base (BIMA) team from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) held socialisation activities for the sweet potato business ecosystem as well as business matching and contract farming training in Purwasari Village, Dramaga District, Bogor Regency.
This activity is also part of the Innovation Real Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) from IPB University program which took place in the village.
Bahroin Idris Tampubolon, SE, MSi as a field supervisor (DPL) lecturer of the KKNT Innovation group and the head of the BIMA proposal team in Purwasari Village, expressed his hope that this socialisation and training can open opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships, especially in the development of sweet potatoes.
“Purwasari Village itself has been involved in the development of sweet potato for a long time. Its potential is very wide, but it is constrained in terms of marketing. With the introduction of the sweet potato business ecosystem from DPMA at IPB University, it is hoped that it can help farmers to get a fixed market and a definite price,” said Muhammad Yusup, Chief of Purwasari Village, in his speech.
This activity was enthusiastically welcomed by the farmers that attended, to consider the importance of support in the marketing development of their agricultural products.
Director of PMA IPB University, Dr Handian Purwawangsa said, business matching and contract farming training is expected to provide new insights and more effective marketing strategies, so that it can improve the welfare of sweet potato farmers in Purwasari Village.
“Through this partnership, DPMA IPB University and the BIMA team of the Ministry of Education and Culture hope to make a real contribution in encouraging the development of the agricultural sector in villages, especially in terms of marketing and increasing the added value of the sweet potato products,” he said.
And thus, he said, the potential of sweet potato as a superior commodity of Purwasari Village can be more optimally developed and provide greater economic benefits for the local community. (*/Rz) (IAAS/IAN)
