DPMA IPB University Holds Healthy Cooking Demo Through School of Quality Family Babakan Village
The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) of IPB University successfully held the 7th meeting of the School of Quality Family (SKB) in Babakan Village on Monday, 15/7. The activity featured a model demonstration of Supplementary Feeding Practices (PMT) guided by Ida Widiawaty, a well-trained cadre.
The Babakan Village Chief and the Central Bogor Sub-District were also present to provide moral support and participate in the cooking demonstration. Ida demonstrated how to make two simple yet highly nutritious PMT menus, which are Moringa Leaf Tempeh Nugget and Suwir Chicken Soup. These two menus were chosen because the ingredients are easily available around the house and economical.
“We hope that through this activity, participants will be able to apply PMT cooking skills in their respective homes, which ensures that the nutritional needs of the family can be fulfilled without having to spend a lot of money,” said Ida. She also added that PMT does not have to be expensive, the most important thing is the balanced nutritional content.
Ida continued, SKB participants were very enthusiastic about the cooking demonstration, they were also active in asking questions and taking notes on every step demonstrated. This activity provides practical knowledge while encouraging independence in managing family nutritional needs.
“We are highly supportive of this program because it aligns well with our vision to improve the quality of life of the village community,” said Mohammad Arifin, Lurah Babakan.
The Sub-District Chief of Central Bogor, Teofilo Patrocinio Freitas added that collaboration between village governments and educational institutions such as IPB University is crucial to the success of community empowerment programs.
“The School of Quality Family Program is expected to continue and become an inspiration for other villages to do the same. Through this program, the community is being encouraged to be more independent and creative in the fulfillment of their family’s nutritional needs by utilizing the resources around them,” he said.
With this activity, DPMA IPB University is showing its commitment in empowering the community through education and hands-on practice. School of Quality Family not only teaches practical skills but also strengthens awareness of the importance of a balanced nutrition for the family. (*/Lp) (IAAS/ZQA)
