Carrying the Earth Friend Program, PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FMIPA IPB University Supports the Sustainability of Ciasmara Village
Since June 2024, IPB University students have conducted community service through the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) in Ciasmara Village, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency, West Java. The program is entitled ‘Bumi Luhur’ with a focus on developing a tourist village.
Ciasmara Village was targeted by the PPK Ormawa team from the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (BEM FMIPA) IPB University because it was considered to have promising tourism potential, especially its natural and cultural potential.
Right on Friday (19/7), the PPK Ormawa team of BEM FMIPA IPB University held the Sobat Bumi event: Chapter 2, which is a briefing for village communities regarding the management of tourist villages located at the Stone Palace, Cibeureum Village. The activity presented speakers from the Bogor Regency Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) and the Bogor Regency Tourism Village Association (Adesta).
Team Leader of PPK Ormawa BEM FMIPA IPB University, Juna, said this activity aims to develop tourism potential that has not been optimally utilized.
“Actually, the people of Ciasmara Village already have many ideas related to the development of a tourist village. But the idea is still difficult to realize, even some ideas have not been conveyed,” said Juna.
“Therefore, we realize that village communities need assistance from tourism-related partners to overcome their hesitation in starting new changes. Hopefully, this program can be a stepping stone for the community to start executing their bright ideas,” he continued.
He added that as one of Bumi Luhur’s sub-programs, Sobat Bumi does not only provide training on tourism village management, but also covers the topics of administration and institutions, finance, and media branding and promotion.
Rudy Hidayat, SS, Sub-Coordinator of Tourism Destination Development at the Bogor Regency Disbudpar, said that tourism village management is very important. How can a village develop progressively, if the planning and implementation does not begin with good institutional management, he said.
In addition, in Sobat Bumi: Chapter 2 this time, the PPK Ormawa team of BEM FMIPA IPB University also invited art and cultural activists and tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis) in Ciasmara. This meeting was an opportunity for tourism village leaders / actors to discuss and find solutions for the future journey of Ciasmara Tourism Village.
“I am very grateful and fully support the Sobat Bumi program as implemented by IPB University students. I really respond positively to programs like this,” said Wahyu Hidayat, an activist of Celempung art in Ciasmara.
The chief of Ciasmara Tourism Village, Herman, also said that the Sobat Bumi program was very helpful for the development of the tourism village.
“Alhamdulillah, with the presence of the students, we are greatly helped. I as the Chief of the Tourism Village here feel very helped. Alhamdulillah, in the future I want to move forward with other colleagues, may we all always be healthy,” he said.
Juna said that the Sobat Bumi program will not stop here. Furthermore, there are still other debriefings to help the people of Ciasmara Village in realizing their dream of becoming an independent tourist village that is sustainable and able to attract tourists with its natural and cultural potential.
