Women’s Empowerment and Gender Justice Encourage Pasaman Group to Come to IPB University

The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) of IPB enthusiastically welcomed the visit of the Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning (DP3APPKB) of Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra. This visit aimed to improve women’s empowerment in Pasaman Regency.

Malida Roza, SP, Chairperson of Women’s Empowerment Division of Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning Pasaman District, together with her team, discussed with the DPMA IPB University team and Dr. Yulina Eva Riany, a lecturer at the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK) as well as a lecturer at the School of Quality Family (SKB). The discussion addressed the potential for collaboration in supporting women’s empowerment and gender justice through informal education in Pasaman Regency.

“Universities cannot walk alone in supporting women’s empowerment and stunting prevention. There needs to be a role of actors in joint commitment and collaboration both from local governments, business people, the media, and also communities in the community,” said Nurul Amirah, SKPm, one of Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development IPB University representatives who attended.

In this meeting, various strategies and programs were designed to empower women, improve their quality of life, and strive for gender justice. The Quality Family School created by IPB University Family Experts became one of the main topics. This program is expected to provide useful education for women in Pasaman Regency.

“We hope that the Office of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning Pasaman Regency can collaborate with Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development IPB University on the Quality Family School program so that it becomes a concrete step in supporting women’s empowerment through informal education. We are committed to continue to innovate and provide the best for the community,” said Dr Yulina Eva Riany.

This meeting is expected to produce various programs and initiatives that benefit women in Pasaman Regency, as well as strengthen cooperation between educational institutions and local governments in creating a more just and inclusive society. (*/Rz) (IAAS/STD)
