Student Well-being Discussion, IPB University Collaborates with University of Adelaide, Charles University, and Unud
The Directorate of Global Connectivity (DKG) and the Directorate of International Education (DPI) of IPB University in collaboration with the University of Adelaide, Australia, Charles University, Czech Republic and Udayana University (Unud) organised a workshop on ‘Curriculum Rethink and Student Well-Being’ at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor on Tuesday (4/6).
“This workshop is slightly different from the previous ones because it is not science-themed, but specifically about Well-Being. Activities like this need to be done to improve the well-being of students and teachers,” said Prof Iskandar Z Siregar, Vice Rector of IPB University for Global Connectivity, Collaboration, and Alumni Relations.
The event began with a presentation on Curriculum Rethink by speakers from the University of Adelaide, namely Dr Mathew White, Deputy Dean of International Arts, Business Law and Economics Faculty, accompanied by Dr Nina Maadad, Senior Lecturer, School of Education. The presentation discussed the importance of adjusting the education curriculum to be more relevant to the needs of modern times and pay attention to the well-being of students.
Dr Matthew White emphasised the importance of awareness of rapid global change. He also highlighted the importance of critical thinking, adaptation to Artificial Intelligence (AI), and how universities manage their students to be tech-savvy.
‘We must be ready for the Industrial Revolution 5.0 and adapt quickly,” he said. He also explained the skills required in the 21st century and the need to redesign the curriculum.
Dr Jana Kochi from Charles University delivered material on Well-Being for students. She also gave a presentation on the development and use of applications for assessment. “Indonesia is in the top three countries with positive experiences.
Positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement are important elements in building Well-Being,” she said.
The presentation took place interactively discussing the meaning of well-being from the opinions of the participants, not only in order to support the well-being of students but also the lecturers. The session was continued by Dr Ni Made Swasti Wulanyani from Unud who explained the results of her research on student well-being in the educational process and the Freedom of Learning – Independence Campus (MBKM) program at Unud.
The event was attended by the Vice Deans for Academic, Student Affairs, and Alumni as well as the Heads and Secretaries of Departments within IPB University. The discussion was hosted by Dr Eva Anggraini, Director of Global Connectivity, and Puji Mudiana, SP, MA, Director of International Education. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
