Passing PPK Ormawa 2024 Funding, Himiteka IPB University Ready to Promote Mangrove Potential of Pantai Mekar Village
The Marine Science and Technology Student Association (Himiteka) of IPB University officially passed the selection of the 2024 Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa). The Himiteka PPK Ormawa team became one of 19 IPB University Ormawa teams that passed the Semarak Bina Desa program which was then submitted to the national level, namely the PPK Ormawa program.
The Himiteka Ormawa PPK team was included in 622 subproposal titles from 158 universities that passed the funding selection from 2,289 subproposals submitted. For four full months, a series of preparations were carried out with three main things, namely surveys and consolidation with village heads and partners, approaches to village communities, and program preparation for making subproposals.
The activity program carried out by the Himiteka PPK Ormawa implementation team is entitled ‘Optimizing the Mangrove Potential of Pantai Mekar Village and Improving Community-Based Environmental Quality to Achieve an Independent Maritime Village’. The program is located in Pantai Mekar Village, Muaragembong District, Bekasi Regency, West Java.
The domain of community empowerment activities raised, namely regarding economic improvement, environmental quality, education and health that targets fishing families living in villages in coastal areas whose program is called “Mangrove Mekar”.
The chief of the Himiteka PPK Ormawa implementation team, Caesar Aditya, revealed that this achievement was a big step and the beginning for Himiteka in fulfilling the tridharma of higher education, namely community service.
“Alhamdulillah, one more big step from Himiteka to carry out community service programs in accordance with the tridharma of higher education. Of course we will not stop here. The Himiteka Ormawa PPK team will continue to process because our main focus is to provide sustainable benefits to the village, ” he said.
Caesar revealed, Himiteka’s success in getting this mandate was certainly inseparable from the support and assistance of Himiteka’s supervisor, Muhammad Iqbal, SPi, MSi, and the team’s accompanying lecturer, Dondy Arafat, SPi, MSi who always provided direction and assistance in this activity.
“The main objective of Ormawa Himiteka’s PPK program is to be able to provide maximum benefit to Pantai Mekar Village. I and the student team will give our best to make this program a success,” said Dondy Arafat, as the lecturer accompanying the Himiteka PPKO team.
