IPB University’s Quality Family School in Margajaya Discusses the Golden Age of Children Under Two Years of Age

The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) IPB University in collaboration with the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK) IPB University held the inaugural meeting of the School of Quality Families (SKB) Programme on 25/6 at Ar’rahman Assembly, Margajaya Village.

The event aimed to strengthen the role of families in supporting children’s growth and development through a holistic approach that includes aspects of stimulation, love, and nurturing.

This activity was attended by participants who were enthusiastic to understand children’s perspectives on parental treatment and important aspects of child growth, especially children under two years old (Baduta). The event also involved IPB University’s Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) students for the June-July 2024 period in Margajaya to create synergy between academics and the community in realising quality families.

Dr Yulina Eva Riany, IPB University lecturer who is an expert in parenting and child development from the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (IKK), Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA) presented material with the theme “Application of Asah, Asih, Asuh in the Family: Developing Healthy Under-5 Children”.

In her presentation, Dr Yulina stated that children must be stimulated a lot so that the child’s intelligence nerves develop well.

“The critical period of children is at the age of two years, so we as parents must be careful and careful with the growth and development of children, children must be given a lot of stimulation by letting children play and explore,” she explained.

This inaugural meeting was also attended by a representative of Margajaya Village Head, Andi. In his remarks, he hoped that the SKB programme could be one of the steps in preventing stunting.

“On this occasion, the quality family school programme can be closely related to last year’s government programme, namely stunting prevention and zero stunting. With this, we hope that stunting in Margajaya Village will no longer exist,” she explained.

Margajaya Village hopes that the Quality Family School programme can benefit the growth and development of infants. “Please follow this activity carefully. Pay attention, practice, and convey it to other mothers who do not participate in this activity,” Dr Yulina concluded. (*/Lp) (IAAS/RSL)
