IPB University Ranks 94th Worldwide in THE Impact Ranking

IPB University is ranked 94th in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking 2024. This position increased significantly compared to the previous year (ranked 101-200 in the world in 2023). The results of this ranking were announced at the Global Sustainable Development Congress held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand, (10-13/6).

THE is a ranking organization that assesses the contribution of educational institutions in the world based on 17 points of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There are four aspects assessed, namely research (Scopus indexed publications), campus operations or governance, community service, and teaching. In SDGs 1 (No Poverty), IPB University is ranked 14th in the world with a score of 84, while in SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger), IPB University is ranked 28th in the world.

Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria expressed his gratitude for this achievement. He stated, “This achievement is possible thanks to the joint work of IPB University people in the effort to realize a prosperous and equal society. Appreciation for all IPB University residents who have contributed to this achievement in THE University Impact Rankings.”

This year, 1,963 leading universities in the world participated in this ranking. The number increased from the previous year which only amounted to 1,591 educational institutions. The increase in participation indicates that various universities in the world are competing to give their best performance in implementing the SDGs.

IPB University’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi, said that THE Impact Rankings could encourage campus communities to implement the tridharma of university that is based on SDGs.

“The increase in IPB University’s ranking is expected to inspire more educational institutions in Indonesia to increase their contribution to the achievement of SDGs, and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the world higher education scene that has a real contribution to the welfare of mankind,” he said.
