The Department of Aquatic Resources Management (MSP), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) IPB University held a hybrid Mini Expo of Habitus Aquatica Journal at the IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor. The event was themed ‘Increase Reputation and Internationalization of Habitus Aquatica Journal’.

Prof Hefni Effendi, Chairman of the Department of Aquatic Resources Management of IPB University revealed, organizing this activity could increase the reputation of two Department of Aquatic Resources Management journals, namely Habitus Aquatica and Journal of Tropical Fisheries Management. Both journals have obtained Science and Technology Index (Sinta) accreditation.

“Journal development is very important for academics and the younger generation to broadcast their research results. Hopefully the journal in the Department of Aquatic Resources Management of IPB University can go to the international level,” said Prof Hefni.

The Board of Editors of Habitu Aquatica Journal, Prof Niken Tunjung Murti Pratiwi, expressed their gratitude to the academics and participants involved and the success of this mini journal expo activity.

The core of this activity is a sharing session from the manager of the Airlangga University Fisheries and Marine Journal, Rozi, SPi, MBiotech, whose journal has pocketed Scopus. The material he presented provided very positive insight into the development of two journals in the Department of Aquatic Resources Management of IPB University on the road to the Scopus index.

“When our journals have reached the Scopus index, our journals will be internationally known and recognized, and will get an impact factor, journal prestige increases and is easy to find,” he said.

The sharing session was also filled by the Editorial Board of the Indonesian Fisheries Product Management Journal (JPHPI) of the Department of Aquatic Products Technology (THP) IPB University, Prof Nurjanah, who has also been scopus. She was very excited to fill this series of sharing sessions by exploring things that must be improved in every journal that will pursue the Scopus index.

“The structure of journal writing must pay attention to the templates that are already available, starting from the dots to the substance of each manuscript must be considered carefully, because the scopus assessment team will look in detail at these things in each submitted manuscript,” said Prof Nurjanah.

With the holding of this mini journal expo and sharing session, it is hoped that it will be able to improve the accreditation of the two journals in the Department of Aquatic Resources Management and also be indexed by Scopus, so that it can have an impact on improving the quality and quantity of publications within IPB University.
