IPB University Alumni Batch 11 Inaugurates IPB Heritage Corner, Makes Kapuk Randu Tree as a Heritage Tree
ANTIME IPB ’74, alumni of batch 11 presented IPB Heritage Corner at Taman Koleksi, Baranangsiang Campus, Bogor, Thursday (6/6). The offering was initiated to improve the beauty and aesthetics of the IPB Baranangsiang Campus, as well as one of the 50-year Golden Reunion series of ANTIME IPB ’74.
This spot is also a representation of IPB University as a biodiversity campus. The initiation maintained the existence of the kapuk randu tree as a registered heritage tree. This 70-year-old tree has grown to follow the development of the Baranangsiang IPB Campus.
Edi Ruslan, Chairman of the Garden Arrangement Initiation Committee and Kapuk Randu Tree Protection said, the background of the activity was to improve the governance of the IPB University campus page as well as make an ANTIME photo spot. In order to preserve the campus environment, the kapuk tree is used as an heirloom tree that is protected through regional regulations.
“With the sanding logo of IPB University and ANTIME IPB ’74 with the title ‘With Love IPB ANTIME IPB ’74’, we want to maintain environmental sustainability around the Baranangsiang IPB Building which has obtained a heritage certificate first. Hopefully this spot will be a trigger for other generations to preserve our beloved campus,” he explained.
The Chairman of ANTIME ’74 representing the Chairman of the Golden Reunion Committee, Prof. Soeryo Adiwibowo said that the theme chosen was the form of the 11th batch in maintaining friendship and protecting the earth. The initiation of the maintenance of the kapuk randu tree as an heirloom became the beginning of the 11th batch of sustainability as well as the sustainability of the IPB University campus.
“Hopefully, the corner will be used as a regular meeting place for batches 10 to 15 who routinely maintain the preservation of the tree. We hope that not only the alumni who visit the IPB Heritage Corner, but also our children and grandchildren will take care of it,” he said.
Akhmad Kosasih, General Director and Infrastructure of IPB University said that his party will continue to maintain, preserve and continue the initiation.
“We want to give great appreciation for the initiation of IPB alumni batch 11. This activity triggers us to always remember more history, because the IPB University building will not be separated from the history of the development of IPB University until now,” he said as well as inaugurating the IPB Heritage Corner.
