Inspirational Story of ITK IPB University Students Winner of Putera Bahari West Java 2024
The selection of Putera Puteri Bahari West Java 2024 is a prestigious event for West Java youths to show their potential and concern for marine and cultural sustainability. The selected winners will carry out their duties as ambassadors to promote the marine and cultural potential of West Java, as well as contribute to various environmental conservation programs.
The long and full journey of struggle was passed by Satria Putra Nugraha, an IPB University student from the Department of Marine Science and Technology (ITK), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) to achieve his dream of becoming Putra Bahari West Java 2024.
Since March 2024, Satria has solidified his determination to take part in this prestigious event. His journey was coloured with a series of strict selections, ranging from files, interviews, assignments, hearings, to quarantine. Satria’s determination never subsides, he continues to hone his skills and knowledge about marine tourism, culture, maritime, and marine West Java to qualify for the next round.
“There are several obstacles that must be passed at every stage of the selection. Starting with a competition with 60 registrants from various regions in West Java before being eliminated every round,” explained Satria during the interview.
Thanks to hard work and dedication, Satria managed to become one of the 14 finalists of Putera Bahari West Java 2024. He represents Bogor Regency, bringing enthusiasm to promote the marine and cultural potential of West Java.
Being a finalist does not mean without challenges. As a 4th semester student, Satria must be good at dividing time between lectures, campus activities, and preparation for this event. Not infrequently, he was hit by doubts and worries. However, the full support of his family, campus and friends became his strength to keep moving forward.
The peak of Satria’s struggle arrived at the night of the Grand Final. Among other finalists who are no less accomplished, Satria was named Putera Bahari West Java 2024. Feelings of emotion and pride are mixed in him. He didn’t expect his hard work all this time to produce such a proud result.
“This title is not only an achievement, but also a big responsibility. This victory encourages me to be directly involved as a promoter and agent of change in the marine sector in West Java,” said Satria.
Satria has a noble mission to run programs focussed on strengthening advocacy and collaboration with related partners. In addition, he also plans to propose a number of other innovative programs, ranging from coastal community education, volunteering, studies, and other tentative programs.
The Trustee of the ITK Student Association (Himiteka) IPB University, Muhammad Iqbal, SPi, MSi said that Satria’s inspiring story is proof that dreams can be achieved with hard work, dedication, and strong determination.
