The Social Security Administration (BPJS) Employment Bogor has organised the ‘Leadership Character Strengthening Programme for Heads of First Class Branch Offices in 2024’. This programme collaborates with IPB University’s Institute for Leadership and Executive Education (LKPE), with the aim of developing strategic and innovative leadership skills for the heads of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan branch offices.

The series of Branch Office Chief Leadership Character Strengthening Programme started from the self pace learning stage 27-31/5, in class training 3-4/6, group coaching and mentoring 10/6 – 5/7, and ended with an evaluation and report programme on 25/7. This activity was attended by 31 branch office heads from all over Indonesia.

The Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, was present to open this in-class training programme through the delivery of material entitled ‘Leaders as Innovation Drivers’. In this session Prof Arif conveyed three important points about leadership and innovation, including understanding strategic innovation, process and methodologies, creativity and ideation leadership and culture for innovation.

Prof Arif outlined the importance of a deep understanding of strategic innovation, including processes and methodologies that can be used to face the era of global disruption while creating positive changes in organisations. “Innovation is not only about new ideas, but also about the usefulness of these ideas, as well as effective strategy implementation,” he said.

He also encouraged participants to think out-of-the-box and find creative solutions to challenges faced in the world of work. “Creativity is the key to creating sustainable change. Strong leadership and a supportive organisational culture are essential to facilitate innovation,” he said.

Prof Arif also shared his experience of being a leader at IPB University as a leading innovative campus by creating a work environment that encourages creativity, collaboration and innovation.

‘This Leadership Character Strengthening Program is expected to have a significant positive impact for the chief officers of BPJS Employment branch offices in carrying out their duties and make the participants more prepared to face challenges and lead the organisation towards a more innovative and highly competitive future,’ he concluded.
