The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) of IPB University held a Studium Generale Agromaritime Sociopreneur Academy (3/6). This activity took place in a hybrid way at Andi Hakim Nasution Auditorium, Dramaga Campus and was broadcasted through DPMA IPB’s YouTube channel.

Studium Generale is one of the series of programmes of Agromaritime Sociopreneur Academy (ASA). The programme aims to prepare the young generation, especially students, to be able to work and create jobs in the world of agriculture and entrepreneurship in the community.

The ASA programme series includes CEO School, Young Agripreneur Camp, Coffee School, and Drone School, as well as Tea School. More than 300 student applicants from various faculties enthusiastically joined the ASA 2024 programme.

In his speech, Dr M Iqbal Irfany as Assistant Director of Social Entrepreneurship, DPMA IPB University explained the objectives of the ASA 2024 programme. One of them is to provide training and skills assistance for students through increased insight and practice according to the chosen field.

“The ASA 2024 programme is a forum for students to be able to implement science in social life. This programme also provides opportunities to develop themselves in the field of social entrepreneurship,” he said.

In addition, this programme prepares students to become community empowerment actors and provides a learning platform for students to use creativity and critical thinking skills to identify problems.

According to the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, the ASA programme is in line with the vision of IPB University, which is to become a techno-socio entrepreneurial university. This means that IPB University’s innovations are not only directed to support industrial needs, but can also have an impact on community development.

“Currently, IPB University has touched 4,666 villages or 6.1 per cent of villages throughout Indonesia that have been fostered by IPB University. One Village One CEO (OVOC) is one example of a programme that has successfully brought farmers who can export their products, such as coffee, planting media, and other IPB University innovation products,” he said.

Also present in this activity was the Vice Rector of IPB University for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi. According to him, the ASA 2024 programme is a flagship programme that can help create new CEOs who will be engaged in agriculture.

The enthusiasm of the ASA studium generale participants was welcomed by the Director of PMA IPB University, Dr Handian Purwawangsa. He mentioned that DPMA will continue to be committed to encouraging students to be actively involved in community development in the agricultural and agromaritime sectors through the facilitation of excellent programmes, such as ASA.
