Visit IPB University, President of Gyeongsang National University Explores Rural Development Cooperation

IPB University received a visit from the President of Gyeongsang National University (GNU), South Korea in order to explore the potential for cooperation related to rural development. The delegation of GNU South Korea was received directly by the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria accompanied by the ranks of vice rectors, deans and directors / chairmans of offices in the environment of IPB University at IPB Dramaga Campus, (13/5).

In his speech, Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria warmly welcomed the arrival of Prof Soon-Ki Kwon, President of GNU and his entourage. Prof Arif said, “It is an honour for IPB University to receive a guest visit from Gyeongsang National University. I really appreciate the visit which will be the beginning of IPB University’s cooperation with Gyeongsang National University.”

“Today’s visit is the initial foundation of strong cooperation between Gyeongsang National University and IPB University, especially in the Smart Agriculture program supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea. We are committed to contributing greatly to sustainable development in the field of education and rural communities,” said Rector.

Furthermore, he said this meeting opened up opportunities for cooperation in research, exchange of students, lecturers and professors in developing their competencies. Prof Arif also revealed about the work of IPB University in community service which has touched more than 400 villages in Indonesia.

“We would like to thank GNU for their support in building plans for the Smart Agriculture program, including capacity building and training for faculty members for Smart Agriculture,” he said.

He also hopes that the collaboration between IPB University and GNU can go deep in other fields. I am confident that this partnership will benefit both institutions and contribute to the broader goal of promoting international understanding and cooperation.

Prof Kwon Soon Ki, President of Gyeongsang National University said that IPB University is known to be very popular. “IPB University and Gyeongsang National University have the same focus which is in agriculture in a broad sense,” he explained.

In addition, he revealed, just like IPB University which has a Science Techno Park area, Gyeongsang National University also developed a green startup town. (dh/Rz) (IAAS/PRP)
