There’s Still a Chance to Become a Student of IPB University through SM-IPB Pathway
IPB University opens the IPB Independent Entrance Selection pathway or known as SM-IPB. Just like before, SM-IPB in 2024 will be implemented using two selection methods, namely ‘SM-IPB UTBK-SNBT score’ and ‘SM-IPB Online Exam’.
Participants can choose whether to use the UTBK-SNBT score, or take the IPB Computer-Based Written Test (UTM-BK) online, or can register for both. If registering both, the selection will be based on the highest score obtained by the participant.
Based on the admissions.ipb.ac.id page, registration is open from May 13 to June 19, 2024. For the SM-IPB Online Exam, the exam schedule will be held on June 30, 2024. But before that, there are Pre-Examination 1 (June 24-29, 2024) and
Pre-Exam 2 (June 29, 2024 at 13.00 WIB).
The material tested in the SM-IPB Online Exam is a Scholastic Ability Test that is Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). There are 25 questions that must be done within 60 minutes.
The scoring system consists of two parts. First, for multiple-choice questions, each correct answer is scored 100%, incorrect answers -25%, and blank answers do not affect the score. Second, for short fill-in-the-blank questions, each correct answer is scored 100%, while incorrect or blank answers are not counted.
For International SM-IPB participants (foreigners), the test is conducted in English. For participants who choose a Veterinary Science major, there will be an additional test about veterinary science with as many as 25 questions, with a processing time of 30 minutes.
Qualifications of SM IPB Participants in 2024
1. Participants are graduates of SMA/MA/SMK in 2022, 2023, or 2024.
2. Participants must be physically and mentally healthy.
3. Participants who take UTBK-SNBT 2024 can register for SM IPB using UTBK scores.
4. Indonesian citizens who are graduates of foreign schools can follow the SM-IPB Online Exam pathway (for Regular Classes) or International SM-IPB (for International Classes) provided that students have equalized to the Ministry of Education and Culture in advance and get NISN.
Registration is done through the admissions.ipb.ac.id page. Participants are required to choose 1 (one) or 2 (two) available study programs. However, participants have the right to choose the third choice, namely the choice of IPB. If not accepted in choice 1 and choice 2, then IPB has the right to determine the choice for participants if their scores meet the requirements.
