Strengthening Cooperation, Rector of IPB University Signs MoU with President of Jeju National University

Establishing cooperation with various universities in various countries is one of the important factors in building IPB University’s reputation at the global level. On 20 May, the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria had the opportunity to extend the Memorandum of Cooperation with the President of Jeju National University (JNU), Prof Kim Eel-Hwan.

“IPB University and JNU agreed to strengthen cooperation in the academic field through double degree programmes, student and faculty exchanges. Not only that, we also agreed to build research and innovation cooperation, one of which is in the field of biomedicine and biopharmaceuticals as part of a bio-based solution with JNU’s Clean Bio Department,” said Prof Arif.

Prof Arif and other delegates also visited the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education (POE) which is the authority in the field of basic, secondary and life-long learning education in the region.

“This visit is a reply to the visit of the Governor of Jeju POE to IPB University in 2023. I hope strong cooperation can be built between IPB University and the government and universities in Jeju,” he said.

Meanwhile, as a region that has a vision of harmonising economic development and protection of natural resources and the environment, the Governor of Jeju POE Mr Kim Gwang Soo hopes that cooperation with IPB can support the achievement of this vision.

In his visit to Jeju Island and Busan, IPB Rector also visited several other universities such as Gyeongsang National University (GNU), Pukyong National University (PKNU) and Korean Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KOIST).

With GNU, IPB University has established cooperation in establishing a Smart Agriculture study programme. On this occasion, IPB Rector reciprocated the visit of GNU President Prof Soon-Ki Kown. “We want to expand cooperation in the field of entrepreneurship and startup development as well as research cooperation for important topics such as climate change and rural development,” said Prof Arif.

Meanwhile, cooperation with Pukyong National University (PKNU) and Korean Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KOIST), Prof Arif hopes to strengthen cooperation in the marine field. (*/Lp)(IAAS/RSL)
