SPs IPB University Receives USU Visit, Discusses International Programs and Postgraduate Management
The Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University received a visit from the Graduate School and Faculty of Engineering of the University of North Sumatra (USU). The visit was to discuss international programs and postgraduate management at SPs IPB University.
Present in the activity from SPs IPB University were Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat (Dean), Prof Agus Buono (Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs), Rudi Irawan, MSi (Chairman of Administration), Zukhri ALSA Siregar, MM (Chairman of Subdivision of Personnel and General Finance). The representatives from USU consisted of Prof Hamidah Harahap (Vice Director of SPs), Prof Renita Manurung (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering), Prof Rosdanelli Hasibuan (Chairman of the Chemical Engineering Master Study Program).
Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat welcomed the presence of USU. He said, currently SPs IPB University is initiating cooperation with SPs from other universities related to synergy or fast track programs for master’s degrees.
“Students can take a postgraduate micro-credential which will be counted as credit to take certain courses. When they graduate, they will be given a certificate and if students want to continue their studies at IPB University, then the course can be recognized by the Recognition of Past Learning (RPL) program,” he said.
Prof Agus Buono added that there are two types of study programs in SPs IPB University, namely monodisciplinary and multidisciplinary. The monodisciplinary program is managed by the faculty, while the multidisciplinary program is managed by SPs IPB University.
“But for the admission of new students and monitoring the evaluation of the study period is carried out by SPs IPB University. So, SPs IPB University coordinates quality assurance in all study programs, both masters and doctoral programs in all faculties,” he concluded.
He added, SPs at IPB University currently manages the Professional Engineer Program (PPI) which offers seven engineering fields. In addition, SPs IPB University has several national and international programs that can be selected by students.
“For international programs, we have several cooperation programs such as credit earning, summer courses, double degrees, joint degrees and others that we have done,” he added.
Meanwhile, USU delegation representative Prof Renita Manurung expressed her gratitude to SPs IPB University for providing opportunities for various information about the implementation of postgraduate programs. Currently USU is heading towards an internationalization program, one of the programs that will be run is a double degree and joint degree program.
“Through this visit, we want to learn through SPs IPB University regarding the management of international programs, what kind of program we have to prepare and the form of reporting, so that this program will not encounter obstacles in the future,” she added. (HBL/Rz) (IAAS/PRP)
