Developing Knowledge and Career Interest, IPB University Students Hold Aquaboost Activities
The Aquaculture Student Association of the Faculty of Fisheries and Fisheries Science (FPIK) of IPB University on 28/4 held an Aquaboost Seminar and Job Fair with the theme Dive Into Success. This activity aims to develop students’ career interest knowledge and also tricks in building a good career.
Aquaboost presented two speakers who can help increase self-value in career development, namely, Habibul Fuadi Hanif, Senior consultant at Twimbit (ex. Deloitte, Shopee, Danone) and also Dr Joni Haryadi, Chief of the Ornamental Fish Cultivation Research Center of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).
Habibul Fuadi provided insight into career academy knowledge such as curriculum vitae, resume and interview tips when applying for a job. “Before applying for a job, we should first research the company’s profile information, when it was founded and match our values with the company’s values so that they can see that we have a vision and mission that is in line with the company,” he said.
Habibul emphasised the importance of having internship experience, because the knowledge learnt during lectures and internship experience in the field directly have different problems. Therefore, having an active internship as a student is one of the important keys to having a good career.
This Aquaboost activity received an active response from the participants. One of the participants named Daniel, a student of the Merdeka Student Exchange (PMM) asked, “I have problems in interviews, I always feel nervous during interviews, how can I speak without being nervous?” Daniel asked.
“Take all opportunities to speak, it can be in lecture activities on campus, organisations, it can also be by increasing friendships because by increasing friendships we can find out and be able to adjust to various characters of people to speak,” Habibul replied.
Another speaker, Dr Joni Haryadi, provided in-depth insights into job and career prospects in the field of aquaculture. Dr Joni gave his view on success. “Success is an achievement that not only makes us economically happy, but also benefits others,” he said.
He highlighted the potential growth of aquaculture and the increasing consumption of fish, explaining that components such as water, energy, and feed are interrelated and key in aquaculture activities.
“We must continue to build both soft and hard skills in our career journey, especially in running a business, as it is important to act quickly without thinking too much. We must also dedicate ourselves by showing our love for aquaculture wholeheartedly,” Dr Joni concluded. (*/Lp) (IAAS/RUM)
