Delivering Support, IPBSJP Holds Palestine Defense Action
IPB University students on Thursday (9/5) held a Palestine Defense Action located at Telaga Inspirasi field, IPB Dramaga Campus, West Java.
This action was initiated by IPBSJP or IPB University Student for Justice in Palestine. IPBSJP is an alliance of IPB University residents aimed at supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people and condemning the crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli Zionists.
The action began at 8 am with a series of speeches from representatives of lecturers, professors, undergraduate students, and graduate students of IPB University. Orations were also delivered in Arabic and English by student representatives.
In addition to speeches, there was a symbolic action to honor the victims in Palestine by arranging sandals and shoes with roses. The series of events ended with a theatrical action, showing the wounded Palestinians while the world just watched silently.
The IPBSJP Palestine Defense Action was attended by around 300 participants who enthusiastically packed the Telaga Inspirasi field wearing Indonesian-Palestinian attributes and unfurling protest posters.
Kholid Kika Ansori as the action coordinator conveyed the importance of the IPBSJP initiation and the contribution of universities in the defense of Palestine. According to him, the Student for Justice in Palestine movement is one of the movements that must continue to be voiced.
“This is a form of our concern and solidarity as a university community towards the Palestinian people who are still being colonized by Zionist Israel. The educated university community should have a conscience and common sense that is not consumed by Zionist propaganda,” he said.
“Why should there be an action at IPB University? First and foremost, to take part in the defense of Palestine as a university. Second, to declare to the world community that the people of IPB University strongly condemn the military aggression carried out by Zionist Israel and provide full support for Palestinian freedom,” he added.
He appealed to the people of IPB University and the general public to continue to voice the defense of Palestine and guard the issue until Palestine is free from Israeli colonization.
For information, for 214 days the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, has caused a death toll of more than 34,488 people killed, including more than 15,002 children and 9,893 women, and more than 78,404 people injured and mild to severe injuries (information from the Palestinian Ministry of Health).
