Aquafest IPB University: Efforts to Increase Public Interest in Aquaculture

The Aquaculture Student Association (Himakua) of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) of IPB University held Aquafest 2024, 4-5/5. The theme of Aquafest 2024 is “Aquaculture for Sustainable Future.” The organization of Aquafest aims to introduce the world of aquaculture to the wider community.

Dr Ujang Suwarna, Director of Student Affairs of IPB University also appreciated the following implementation of Aquafest 2024. “I appreciate Himakua IPB University for organizing Aquafest 2024. We hope that Himakua IPB University can continue to improve competence and collaboration with aquaculture communities throughout Indonesia so that Aquafest can become a bridge to get to know aquaculture more broadly,” said Dr Ujang Suwarna.

He also felt proud of Himakua IPB University which continues to improve its achievements to the national level and hopes to continue to maintain it.

Meanwhile, Prof Fredinan, Dean of FPIK IPB University acknowledged that Himakua is a productive student association at the faculty level. He added that this activity tried to invite the public to get easier information about aquaculture.

“Aquafest is a place where knowledge from the campus can be disseminated to the community, because aquaculture must involve all parties, including the government society,” said Prof Fredinan.

The series of Aquafest activities began with the Road to Aquafest. Various activities were also held to enliven Aquafest 2024, including e-sports competitions such as Mobile Legends and PUBG, seminars, talk shows, fish contests, art, photography competitions, until the national betta contest for the rotating trophy of the Rector of IPB University.
