Commemorating Disaster Preparedness Day, IPB University Holds Disaster Preparedness Simulation for K3 Team
Located in the Collaboration Lounge of the IPB University Rectorate Building, the IPB University Risk Management Office (KMR) held a Kick Off Meeting and Disaster Preparedness Simulation (KSB). This effort is not only to increase awareness and awareness of all levels of society to become a Disaster-restant Indonesia, but also to make the momentum to build a disaster-conscious culture of the community to evacuate independently on a regular basis.
“IPB University has planned to simulate preparedness in this Rectorate Building as the number one priority. We are in ring one (Ring of Fire), so if a disaster hits anytime, staying alert to potential threats is vital. By being prepared with a plan, supplies, and practice, we can weather any storm,” explained Ir Budi Purwanto, M.E. as the Chairman of the Risk Management Office on 26/04.
Ir Budi continued, carrying the theme “Ready for Congratulations”, this activity was also carried out as a follow-up to the appeal from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbud Ristek) which is commemorated every year through the optimisation of the implementation of the Disaster Safe Education Unit (SPAB) program in accordance with the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation Number 33 of Year 2019.
In collaboration with PT. Kandel Sekeco International, this activity is guided by Safety Induction. Present as a resource person, Technical Responsible for Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Fire Management of PT Formation Sistem Internasional, Imam Triongko, S.E. with Emergency Response Plan material.
“Emergency (darurat) is a condition where the position already requires handling caused by an incident and there must be further handling efforts. Effective training, with clear materials and realistic simulations, is crucial for employees to respond well in emergencies. This equips them with knowledge and practice to make a real difference during critical situations,” he explained.
The activity ended with a Disaster Preparedness Simulation which was attended by all participants. The main activity of Disaster Preparedness Day is simultaneous training or simulation in Indonesia. Exercises include self-evacuation, disaster simulation, early warning siren test, shelter test and others with four things that need to be done including recognising the threat of disasters around, recognising disaster risks, knowing evacuation sites and training to deal with disasters with family.
