Strengthening Network with Canada, IPB University Collaborates with University of Saskatchewan

IPB University and the University of Saskatchewan (USask) signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) to start a partnership in research and academics. Signed at the Canada in Asia 2024 Conference in Singapore (27/2), this MoU is an important initiative to foster a strategic partnership between IPB University and USask.

The signing of the MoU was carried out by the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria with the President and Vice Chancellor of USask, Dr Peter Stoicheff and witnessed by Prof Iskandar Siregar (Vice Rector of IPB University for Global Connectivity, Collaboration and Alumni Relations) and Dr Baljit Singh (Vice President for Research USask).

“IPB University and USask have similar missions, including in agriculture and achieving sustainability. This shared mission can be the foundation for various collaborative activities that we can plan,” said Prof Arif.

In the discussion, Prof Arif also shared about IPB University’s approach in embracing techno-sociopreneurship, and how partnerships with USask can produce joint innovations and provide greater impact to society.

Dr Stoicheff echoed the vision, “The IPB University and USask partnership allows us to expand our reach and better positions us to address today’s global challenges that will affect our shared future.”

USask is a leading Canadian university located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Some of USask’s areas of excellence include agriculture, veterinary medicine, engineering and others. As one of Canada’s leading research universities, USask is renowned for its contribution to agricultural research and innovation.

Having many similarities in vision, USask is a strategic partner to enhance IPB University’s research and jointly address global challenges in agriculture and other fields.

In the event, IPB University’s Prof Ernan Rustiadi (Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Agromaritime Community Development) and Dr Fitriya N Dewi (Assistant Director of Global Connectivity for International Cooperation and Networking) were also present.

The representatives from USask who attended were Dr. Angela Bedard-Haughn (Dean of the College of Agriculture and Bioresources) and Dr Steve Webb (Executive Director of the Global Institute for Food) who provided various thoughts and collaboration ideas during the discussion. (*/Rz) (IAAS/Ard)
