Starting a Business Since College? Of course IPB University Agribusiness Study Program Students Can Too
Having an income during college is certainly the desire of many students. Moreover, it is obtained from doing business. In the IPB University Agribusiness Undergraduate Study Program, with the available curriculum, students can really start a business even before graduating from college.
As the name implies, IPB University Agribusiness Study Program will study agricultural science as well as business science. Being part of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) of IPB University, Agribusiness Study Program offers materials on sustainable tropical agribusiness business systems and entrepreneurship. This study program has two divisions, namely the Agribusiness Policy Division and the Business and Entrepreneurship Division.
The curriculum taught at IPB University’s Agribusiness Study Program has even become a reference for agribusiness undergraduate programs in Indonesia. The curriculum is formed based on the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and user needs (industry / work field), and is adaptive to developments. In addition, this study program has been accredited nationally (BAN-PT) and internationally (AUN-QA level).
Take for example, M Fadhilah Hendri or who is familiarly called Fadhil. The 8th semester student successfully pioneered two businesses with his alma mater friends, namely PT Roves Global Food and PT Export Tani Nusantara. The latter company has even managed to export its products to Singapore, Saudi Arabia, China, America and Europe.
“Since I was a child, my parents taught me to earn money, as simple as saving money to buy toys. In the end, that’s what made me interested in entrepreneurship. Besides that, I am also interested in the world of agriculture because I was told that during the colonial era, a lot of Indonesia’s wealth was taken for granted,” he explained when explaining the reason why Fadhil chose to study in the Agribusiness Study Program.
Fadhil admitted that what he found unique and memorable about the Agribusiness Study Program was the lecturers. All Agribusiness lecturers have extraordinary insights and networking in agribusiness science.
“Once we were taught by a lecturer who was a former Minister of Agriculture, at that time he was the chairman of the Bina Swadaya Foundation which oversees the Trubus Store company. We were not only given lecture material, but also given knowledge about fruit cultivation techniques, invited to tour the Trubus Store, given gifts of Musang King seeds, and even given free food too,” said Fadhil.
Agribusiness graduates of IPB University are favored with the ability to make strategic and operational decisions using quantitative and qualitative methods, able to recommend alternative solutions individually and in groups in the field of sustainable tropical agribusiness and can take part in various sectors / jobs, such as becoming agribusiness entrepreneurs, professional managers in agribusiness companies, government agencies, financial institutions as well as consultants and agricultural business assistants.
