Opened This Year, Let’s Study at IPB University’s Smart Agriculture Study Program
Did you know that this year IPB University opened the Smart Agriculture Study Program (Prodi)? This study program is here to answer the challenges of future agriculture in the midst of technological developments in the current 4.0 era.
The use of sensing and geospatial technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in agriculture are the main competencies of graduates of the Smart Agriculture Study Program at IPB University. This competency includes the application of wall to wall systems, from planning, design and construction to the management of agricultural production, including post-harvest and marketing issues.
“Graduates of the Smart Agriculture Program are educated to be able to plan, build and implement innovative and intelligent agricultural production systems. In addition, they are able to oversee agricultural transformation and accelerate the diffusion of technology to the community,” said Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof drh Deni Noviana.
Here, students are also required to thoroughly master the theoretical and technical concepts of smart agriculture to solve various agricultural issues. Students are also prepared with the ability to analyze textual and spatial data to make the right decisions and provide alternative solutions.
“Students are equipped with the skills needed for corporate-scale smart agriculture that is sustainable and adaptive to climate change. Basic understanding of agricultural science as well as the use of the Internet of Things (IoT), instrumentation, automation, spatial science and other related tools are also taught,” he added.
In 2024, IPB University’s Smart Agriculture Study Program accepts prospective students for regular classes and international classes with a quota of 40 and 25 respectively. Registration is open for the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) and Independent Pathways such as the Student Council Chairperson Pathway, International and National Achievement (PIN), International Class, Regional Envoy Scholarship (BUD) and IPB Independent Entrance Selection (SM-IPB).
This study program was opened in collaboration with Gyeongsang National University (GNU) South Korea, especially for organizing international classes. With this cooperation, students can easily have the opportunity to participate in student exchanges, research cooperation and smart agriculture programs supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea.
Important dates for registration can be noted, namely SNBP (February 14-28), International Class for Indonesian citizens through report card selection (February 22-May 6), SNBT (March 21-April 5), Student Council Chair and PIN (May 1-June 14), BUD (March 1-June 9), SM-IPB (May 6-June 19), International Class for Indonesian citizens through SM-IPB International (May 6-June 19).
