IPB University Strengthens Cooperation with Royal University of Agriculture, Cambodia

IPB University shows its seriousness in its vision of becoming a global south leader, especially in the field of agriculture. IPB University and the best agricultural campus in Cambodia, Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of academics and innovation.

Located at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Phnom Penh (21/3), IPB University Rector, Prof Arif Satria signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with RUA Rector, Prof Ngo Bunthan.

The signing of the MoU was witnessed by the Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, Santo Darmosumarto; Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) of RI, Agung Laksono; and Yasril Ananta Baharuddin, leader of the Indonesian Muslim Scholars Association (ICMI).

In his speech, Ambassador Santo Darmosumarto expressed his hope for the continuation of strategic cooperation between IPB University and RUA in advancing agriculture, especially by involving youth.

Prof Arif Satria appreciated RUA which has been working with IPB University for a long time. According to him, the extension of the MoU this time is a commitment to continue to strengthen collaboration in various fields, including in programmes that are in line with IPB University’s mission in the aspect of techno-sociopreneurship.

Along with IPB’s Global Engagement work, Prof Arif also hopes that more young Cambodians will study at IPB University.

“IPB University will encourage scholarships for Cambodian students to study at IPB University,” he said. RUA Rector welcomed this, and said that several IPB University alumni have now taken part in important positions in the Cambodian government.

Also attending the event representing IPB University were Dr Irfan Syauqi Beik (Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management), Dr Laily Dwi Arsyianti (‘Chief of Centre of Islamic Business and Economics Studies/CIBEST IPB), and Dr Fitriya N Dewi (Assistant Director of International Cooperation and Networking, Directorate of Global Connectivity).

At the same time, IPB University’s partner, Universitas Negeri Padang (Rector, Prof Ganefri, was present) also initiated cooperation with RUA. After the signing of the MoU, IPB University and RUA discussed the implementation plan of the cooperation. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
