IPB University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Raffles University, Malaysia, 22/3. The MoU was signed by IPB University Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana with President of Raffles University, Dr Greg Pritchard.

Prof Deni Noviana said, through cooperation with Raffles University, we can contribute to supporting the environment and society through impactful work. She said the signing of this collaboration was a momentum to expand collaboration at the global level in the fields of education, research and the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs).

“IPB University is one of the leading universities in Indonesia. We are committed to expanding this reputation on a global scale, by strengthening the ecosystem of education, research programmes, and community services that can increase resilience, transform mindsets, design the future, and practice to achieve sustainability,” he said.

Furthermore, he recognised that international cooperation with strategic partners such as Raffles University would support IPB University’s vision. Especially the field of agriculture which is one of the core mandates and strengths of IPB University today in addition to marine and tropical biosciences. In relation to these fields, said Prof Deni, artificial intelligence (AI), technology, and engineering have an important role in core development.

He also added that IPB University is also very open to encourage exchange and mobility of students and faculty. Not only that, IPB University is also open to the development of collaborative activities relevant to education, such as double degrees, and community development. Prof Deni explained there are further collaboration opportunities in the fields of AI and robotics, supply chain management, and Sustainability.

“IPB University has a great concern for these fields, which motivates us to develop the Centre for Transdisciplinary and Sustainable Science (CTSS) and Blockchain, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence Network (BRAIN) Research Groups.

Meanwhile, President of Raffles University, Dr Greg Pritchard expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of IPB University to collaborate with Raffles University. Furthermore, Greg mentioned related to joint research, summer camp for students and professional development that can be collaborated. He also demonstrated the applications and learning methods that have been used at Raffles University using AI. (IAAS/RUM)
