The Study Programme of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (PSL) of the Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) related to international cooperation plans with Warsaw University of Life Science (WULS), Poland, 27/2.
Attending the FGD this time from WULS were Prof Roman Wójcik (Natural Resource Management and Policy, Case of Forestry in Poland) and Dr Wojciech Kędziora (State of the Art: Forest Inventory in Poland). Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat, Dean of the Graduate School of IPB University expressed his welcome to the representatives of WULS Poland who were present at SPs IPB University. He said, this activity was part of the cooperation that had been carried out by IPB University.
“Currently SPs IPB University has a diverse number of study programmes, namely 56 master’s programmes and 43 doctoral programmes and has student mobility programmes including joint degrees, double degrees (DD), credit earning, summer and winter courses, sandwich like programmes and joint supervision and publication,” he said.
Prof Dodik added that cooperation in double degree programmes must be recognised by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology and must have a memorandum of understanding between the organising universities. In addition, he said, both parties must have the same basic curriculum for different majors.
“The advantage of this double degree programme is that it improves the quality of each university and can help standardise the basic curriculum, strengthen capacity and facilities between universities,” he added.
Prof Widiatmaka, Chairman of the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Study Programme, IPB University said that this collaboration was one of the Erasmus programmes. “Meanwhile, the specialisation of the WULS delegation present this time is about forestry and provides good insight related to its management, so that it becomes learning material for the PSL study programme and the information presented is very related to the PSL Study Programme which is a multidisciplinary programme at SPs IPB University,” he said.
Prof Widiatmaka explained that this collaboration had been approved by IPB University. One of the things that will be implemented is by organising a double degree doctoral programme between PSL SPs IPB University and WULS. “Later, the delegation of PSL IPB University will go to Poland to implement the double degree programme,” he said.
