IPB University Graduate School Holds RPL Program Implementation Workshop
IPB University Graduate School (SPs) held a workshop on implementing the Recognition of Past Learning (RPL) program, on 15/3.
IPB University Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana said that currently, the number of IPB University students is around 36,000 students and around 6,000 of them are postgraduate students. He explained, that to increase the number of new graduate school students, it is necessary to carry out better promotions and as much as possible to increase the student body at IPB University.
“Currently, almost 50 percent of publications at IPB University are supported by SPs IPB University students, so we must continue to think about increasing the number of new students,” he said.
Prof Deni Noviana explained that to improve the student body, what must be done apart from increasing promotions is to improve the learning system, one of which is the RPL program. Of course, it is necessary to prepare the admission rules and routes that will be carried out for this RPL program.
“For the RPL program, it is very good for experienced practitioners to continue their studies, this will certainly provide an opportunity to increase the number of students at SPs IPB University,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Graduate School of IPB University, Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat said that SPs IPB University is currently making improvements to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). “Currently our enthusiasm is that the teaching and learning process can be given flexibility. “However, our learning outcomes (LO) must continue to maintain the quality of students, one of which is the obligation to publish as a graduation requirement,” he said.
Prof Dodik added, that with this RPL program, it is hoped that it will make it easier to recognize competence in fields of work or projects that have been carried out. Thus, it can be submitted or equated with courses in related study programs. This is one of SPs IPB University’s efforts to increase the number of practitioners who can continue their studies at SPs IPB University. Not only that, through this activity, it is hoped that the academic world can be brought closer to the industrial world and practitioners.
“With the efforts we can make, hopefully, we can make it easier for students to graduate on time while maintaining the quality of graduates at SPs IPB University,” he added.
