From IoT to AI, Here’s What You Learn in Computer Engineering Technology Study Program at IPB University Vocational School
Computer Engineering Technology (TEK) Study Program is an applied undergraduate program (D4) offered by IPB University under the auspices of the Vocational School. This study program organizes education and applied research as well as community service in the field of intelligent engineering on innovative, modern and sustainable computer-based systems.
With a focus on innovation and sustainability, IPB University’s Computer Engineering Technology Study Program has set its mandate to support the tropical agricultural, marine, and bioscience sectors through innovative technology development.
In this study program, students not only get material from lectures, they are also directed to make direct projects through project-based learning activities so that the knowledge gained in class can be implemented directly.
“In the early semester, we are directed to design a device/hardware, usually in the form of a simple device such as an automatic door, for example,” said Naufal Rizqullah Firdaus, an outstanding student from IPB University’s Computer Engineering Technology Study Program.
Naufal said that the learning process in this program uses the project-based learning method. This method is an implementation of education and applied research in the field of intelligent engineering on computer-based systems.
“When entering the 3rd and 4th semester, (the learning) starts to integrate with the network, including integration with the internet of things (IoT). For example, students will learn how to control devices through their cellphones,” Naufal explained.
“So in essence, students in this program are more focused on hardware or IoT development,” added the student who won first place in the application and web landing page competitions.
The advantages of the Computer Engineering Technology study program at IPB University are many. One of them is the science that is needed today, such as the ability to take data through sensors and send it through communication interfaces and IoT protocols.
In addition, by studying in this study program, students are able to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to solve various problems, especially those related to the agromaritime sector.
Another advantage is the ability in techno entrepreneurial aspects that integrate technology and entrepreneurship, especially in supporting agriculture. Finally, this study program also emphasizes the importance of professional ethics, especially in the field of IT Engineer.
The study program that has received ‘Excellent’ accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) has promising job prospects for its graduates.
